Humans can learn new information while sleeping though only simple information.
Researchers from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel treats 55 volunteers to connect certain sound and a certain smell.
In a study published in the journal Nature News, Nature Neuroscience was mentioned researchers play a specific sound while exhaling some odor to the volunteers who were sleeping.
Researchers used a bad odor, such as deodorants and shampoos, as well as the unpleasant smell like rotten fish and carrion.
Researchers found that volunteers who are sleep breathing shorter when exposed to smell unpleasant, but sniffing longer when smell better.
When they woke up, the volunteers did not remember anything about the condition of the smell and the sound. But when a sound is played, without the smells, the volunteers will sniff slowly or in, depending on the associated sound.
The ability of people to study the conditions when they sleep can help doctors diagnose people who are unconscious was in its infancy. It also can be used as a therapy for people who have a phobia about sleep.
